April 20th: Deuteronomy 3, Proverbs 30 and John 13-14

"Surely I am too stupid to be a man.
I have not the understanding of a man."

Crap. I'm almost 29 and I find myself thinking this. When it comes to people, it sure is easy to be a fool. Seems like there is a lot of wisdom that I need to get. Seems like I still make a ton of mistakes when it comes to dealing with people. And by "people," I mean Christians. I get along with non-Christians just fine. They tend to not be so back-stabby. They tend to not be so selfish. Of course, maybe it's just me. Maybe it's just me being tired and frustrated.

The helper that Jesus talks about in John 14? I could use a little extra of that right now. Of course, I'll just take option B... that Jesus can come back and put an end to all this.

  1. I completely agree with your sentiments regarding "people." Sometimes I hate going to church (and work for that matter) because of all the negative and gossip I hear about and from church members (or pastors). In fact, I've become awfully cynical toward the church and my faith rigid & academic because of it. Perhaps this is why Paul wrote Romans 7 or why Rob Bell wrote "Jesus Wants to Save Christians"? As "Christians" we're almost in need of a Saviour even more than ever because we are so aware of our (and everyone else's) shortcomings and pitfalls.

    Thanks for the thoughts. :-)

  2. The maybe Jesus can just come and put an end to all this part, yeah, i think about that a lot. this is a bit off topic so forgive me, but kingdom come reminded me of it. i remember during the election (and presently i'm sure, haven't been keeping up with it) there was a lot of talk among certain Christian sub-cultures regarding whether Obama was/is the anti-Christ. This was their argument NOT to vote for him. from what i've read of the Bible and the end times, anti-Christ running for office seems like the VERY reason to vote for a candidate. It's going to happen, if you are a scripture believing Christian you know that is how it has to be. To clarify, No, I do not believe Obama is in fact the anti-Christ, but if I knew someone running for office was in fact that one, I would definitely vote them in. Let's get this show on the road. People pray and hope for Christ to come soon, yet they'd refuse to vote for the anti-Christ into power given the chance, seems like a double standard to me.

  3. I know this Helper that Jesus speaks of ,The person of the Holy Spirit is here for all,sad thing is most U.S. christians don't know Him. I challenge to ask God to reveal Him to you.He is the Power of Acts 1:8 not just the Holy Spirit of Jn. 20:22. I know how offensive some christians can be. I'm 55 and have been assulted by the bestof them,BUT!, I choose to not allow them to offend me, it's my choice, they can't if I don't let them. Gods good that way,He gives us control over the attacks of the enemy, remember "our battle is not against flesh and blood". Sorry Jesus is'nt comming back untill we "the church" gets our act together and start serving Him as He commanded Jn. 13:34&35,Jn. 14:21,Jn. 15:12, Jn. 15:13-14 I want Him to come back as much as any one, lets get right and He will....... U.D.

  4. Thanks for the comments. As it turns out, getting trashed by fellow Christians is a universal feeling. And they will know us by our backstabbing? Crap.
