February 2nd: Exodus 7-8, Psalm 60-61 and Romans 12

Never thought of this before... the magicians in Exodus repeat the miracles that God is doing through Moses and Aaron. Is God doing the miracles through the magicians as well? Or is it Satan giving the magicians the power? God said that HE would harden Pharaoh's heart, that it was a part of His will. Is this the way that He does it? I can imagine I would think Mo and Aaron were a bit nuts too if my boys could get the job done too.

The implications for now are a little nuts. Does God allow things to happen to mislead us? I'm not saying he causes bad things... but does He give power to opposing forces in order to accomplish His will?

  1. this always got to me.
because it wasnt just the first signs they duplicated, but the first few plagues.

    so lets look at that.
there's this Moses guy whose God is bringing plagues on the Egyptians.
so Pharoah has his magicians MAKE THE PLAGUES WORSE!!??

    stupid Pharoah.

  2. Yeah, you kinda want to say to Pharaoh's prophets, "Hey, buddy, that's cool and all about adding to the blood-water... but how about you make it go away. That would be a little cooler at this point. Thanks."

  3. maybe it's really their "power" extended only to doing more of the same -- God did the hard work first -- and not a greater (or at least just as strong) power to change it. Look at all the "good" that gets copied from God but never with the recognition of the true source.
